Winter is here and now we have to make sure that we don't end up with the winter blues. One sure fire way of making sure you don't get all bummed out is to come get your hair freshened up and your nails done. Nothing makes you feel better then getting pampered! Facials are super relaxing so on those busy weeks you can end it with a relaxing facial. Our pedicure chair comes equipped with a built in massager so not only do you get a pedicure for $35 but also get a relaxing massage. The summer scent of grapefruit used with our pedicure will also help to vanquish the winter blues.
I would like to take this time to thank everyone for their interest in our website and our facebook. Let me quelch the rumor that we are an old lady's shop, we are not that at all. I do a lot of seasoned ladies but I also do all ages from Rusty Master's 7 month old daughter to Lucille Miller who will be 103. I am grateful for all my clients. Sylvia Swartz, the teacher, is my original client, I have done her hair for 49 years. I wasn't fortunate enough to have a beauty school in the in the school system so i went 3 summers while i was in high school. My girls range in all ages from 22 to me at age 64 and trust me my girls are some of the best in the business. RaeJean, Mandy, Jami, and Carrie can do any style cut or color that you can think of. Low lights and hi lights, slicing, dicing, chunking, hombre, foiling or capping, and anything else you would want. Danielle is one of the very best nail techs I have seen, especially when it comes to nail art, if it will fit on the nail she can do it. April, our esthetician, puts people to sleep while giving them facials, so imagine her relaxation massage, wow!! Her makeup application is outstanding, the change in the persons looks is remarkable. I am so very proud of my girls and love each and every one. Come give us a try, you will be pleased!
Hi, my name is Rae Jean Hurd. I've been a hair stylist since 1991. I remember when I first started doing hair how nervous I was, especially when it came to highlights and color. And now with years of experience and lots of training, it's one of my favorite things to do. I think it's very important to listen to your clients. I must listen in order to create exactly what they are trying to achieve. So please stop by and let's create a style just for you. :-)
My name is Mandy. I am a1989 graduate of the Cosmetology Program at Montgomery County Career Technology Center. I have been working in this field for 24 years! I specialize in hair color. I love visiting with clients and learning about their lives, families, and interests, but the most rewarding is making them feel special, happy, and appreciated by making them look GREAT! I feel very fortunate to be at Miss Sylvia's Salon and Spa and to have a boss that "truly cares" about her staff and clients. Sylvia means the world to me!!!
Hello! My name is Carrie Thompson. I am one of the stylists here at Miss Sylvia's! I wanted to say "hello" to all of our clients and potential clients! If you have not been to the salon, please stop by to see us! I've never enjoyed coming to work so much! Miss Sylvia's is a great place to be, working or not working. Hope to see you soon!!
First of all I would like to introduce myself. I am Danielle Rohrbach-Filbert, I graduated from Carousel’s nail program in April 2008 and have been doing nails ever since! I Love what I do and wouldn’t trade it for anything! I do everything from manicures and pedicures to shellac and acrylics. Hand painted nail art is my specialty, I don’t use stencils or anything like that. If it will fit on a nail I can paint it on there. I also work with colored acrylics and I am not afraid to mix things up. I have embedded everything from lace to watch parts into the acrylic and made it look awesome. The possibilities are endless!
I also would like to touch base on a few things. First, it has been brought to my attention that people are nervous about the use of UV lighting to cure the shellac. If that has you worried please feel free to bring some sun screen with you and apply it before going under the lamp. I understand the worry and I wouldn’t want any of my clients to be uncomfortable with any of my services. Second, OPI has made considerable efforts to take harmful ingredients out of their polish. We use mostly OPI polish and I will be doing more research on other brands to make sure that they are safe for use, and will provide information in future blogs! Third, I understand the importance of safety while giving a diabetic a pedicure so you will be given the utmost care while having that service.
Please look for more information in upcoming blogs and if there are any questions please feel free to ask!
Hope to see you soon,
Danielle, your current or future nail tech!
I keep being reminded that times have changed. I have always kept up with the latest in trends, products, and equipment. I even (unwillingly) agreed to begin to use software for records, reports and general client information more than fifteen years ago. However, I have been reluctant to create a website, use facebook, twitter, tumblr, google+, blog, or check my email regularly. I have been too busy. Finally, my team has dragged me into the digital age and I, surprisingly, find that I am enjoying it. I love to be able to share what we are doing with clients and prospective clients. What better way to accomplish this than to blog?
So, as my first blog, I invite all of you to keep an eye on our salon's evolution. You will see a mixed age team of stylists, estheticians, nail techs, and massage therapists. If you follow us, you will soon see some exterior changes to the building and many interior changes as we update the salon to better function with the needs of today's clients. Remember, we have the years and experience to give you and your family what you need in a salon and spa. If you still like a cap highlighting, we can do it. Or if you want the latest of trends, we can do that also.
We take pride in comments from clients who say that we are unique as a salon. They say that we offer a friendly, soothing atmosphere that caters to all. Come by and see if you agree.
